Abstarct: Wellbore stability is an essential issue, which can lead to a crisis during drilling operations. This issue depends on the capability of the drilled hole to maintain the structural integrity, which can prevent incidents like wellbore collapse, formation damage and mud loss happen. Wellbore stability directly impacts safety, efficiency and to reduce the costs related to drilling operation. Wellbore stability analysis during drilling is inevitable to recognize the potential factors causing instability and to remove the risks related to it. By acknowledging the relations between drilling forces, formation specifications and the drilling fluid behavior assist engineers have a more precise decision during drilling operations to guarantee having a successful completion procedure. In this study the attempt was to use the Drilling Exponent method and Eaton’s equation to have an estimation on pore pressure which can lead to an analyses on wellbore stability by comparing the results with the applied mud weight. This method uses drilling data such as Rate of Penetration, Mud Weight and Rock Mechanics characteristics to recognize the potential instability in wellbore. In this method after filtering the data in demand and having the Drilling Exponent and Corrected Drilling Exponent calculated, an estimation on pore pressure will be achieved using Eaton’s method and by having the Equivalent Circulation Density value along with the derived results, it will be shown that the determined pore pressure is reasonably less than the mud weight which indicates to the proper conditions nevertheless at the latter 50 meters the real mud weight was indispensably increased. In order to use the Eaton’s method various drilling data such as drilling logs, mud characteristics and formation related data might be gathered and processed. These data will be processed and analyzed to determine the mechanical formation properties and to predict issues regarding potential instability.
